Welcome to LitCheck, a fashion-focused social networking application developed and operated by LitCheck ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices and rights available to you. By using LitCheck, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Scope and Overview

LitCheck lets users discover, share, and rate fashion looks through a swipe-based interface, upload outfit photos, tag clothing items with shopping links, follow other users, and participate in competitive leaderboards and badge systems. We aim to collect and process the minimum information necessary to provide these features and to protect the service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect certain information to operate the service and provide the features described above. Information falls into the following categories:

User-Provided Content

• Photos, images, captions, tags, shopping links, and any other content you choose to upload or post to the feed or your profile (collectively, "User Content").
• Usernames, display names, profile pictures and optional profile text you provide.

Account & Interaction Data

• If you create a profile, we store the profile fields you enter and your public activity (posts, likes, comments, follows, leaderboard scores, badges, and rank history).

Usage and Technical Information

• Device information (device model, operating system version), app version, unique device identifiers generated by the app, timestamps of activity, and basic performance and error logs needed to maintain app stability.
• IP address and approximate location derived from IP for abuse prevention, service localization, and security.

Automated/Derived Data

• Leaderboard points, ranking metrics, badge status and other derived metadata computed from user activity.

Optional Data

• If you contact support or otherwise correspond with us, we retain the information you submit (e.g., email address, message contents) to respond and follow up.

We do not collect payment information, advertising identifiers for third-party advertising, or any biometric data. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.

Note on scope: The categories above describe the types of information we collect to operate the social features of LitCheck. If you choose to publish User Content, that content becomes accessible to other users according to your privacy settings and is considered part of the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain the service, including storing and delivering User Content, generating feeds, handling uploads, and calculating leaderboards and badges.
• To enable social interactions (following, commenting, liking, sharing).
• To authenticate and manage accounts and to allow you to manage or delete your own content.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity.
• To improve, develop, and personalize features, user experience, and content ranking (including automated ranking described below).
• To communicate with you about account or service-related matters (e.g., updates, bug fixes), and to respond to your inquiries.
• To comply with legal obligations, law enforcement requests, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LitCheck, our users, or others.

We do not use collected information for behavioral advertising or sell personal information.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We share information only in limited circumstances:

Service Providers and Processors

We use third‑party service providers to host, operate, and maintain portions of our infrastructure and services. These providers process data on our behalf only as necessary to provide the services and are contractually required to protect that data. Examples include hosting and storage providers, email infrastructure, and tools to maintain security and availability.

Technical stack: LitCheck is implemented using React Native and relies on secure backend infrastructure to store and serve User Content and account data. We employ measures such as SSL pinning and device integrity checks to secure communication and app integrity.

Legal and Safety

We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process; to respond to lawful requests by public authorities; to protect our rights, property, or safety or that of our users; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, reorganization, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected users where required by law.

Public and Community Content

Content you post publicly (e.g., posts on the public feed, public profile fields) is visible to other users and third parties who view the public feed. Treat public posts as publicly accessible information.

We do not sell personal information or share it with advertising networks. We do not disclose personal data to entities located outside the protections described in this policy except as noted above.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required to comply with legal obligations:

User Content and Public Profile Data

Retained until you delete it or your account, except that copies may persist in backups for a limited time.

Account and Interaction Data

Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after account deletion to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and prevent fraud (typically up to 24 months, unless a longer retention is required or permitted by law).

Support and Correspondence

Retained as long as necessary to resolve the issue and for recordkeeping purposes.

Backups and Logs

May be retained for operational stability and disaster recovery for a limited period.

When you delete content or your account, we will remove data from active systems promptly. However, copies may remain in cached, archived, or backup systems for a limited period before permanent deletion.

5. Security Measures

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect information within our control:

• Encryption of data in transit using TLS.
• SSL pinning in the mobile apps to reduce the risk of man-in-the-middle attacks.
• Access controls and role-based restrictions for internal systems.
• Device integrity checks to detect tampering or unauthorized environments.
• Regular security assessments, patching, and monitoring for suspicious activity.
• Limited staff access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your data, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.

6. Children's Privacy

LitCheck is not directed to children under 13 (or higher minimum age where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the applicable age without verified parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as required by law. 7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA Compliant)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, California, or jurisdictions with similar rights, you have rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access

You can request a copy of personal data we hold about you.

Right to Rectification

You can request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten")

You can request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal exceptions (e.g., data needed to comply with legal obligations).

Right to Restriction or Object

You can request restrictions on processing or object to certain processing activities where applicable.

Right to Data Portability

Where applicable, you may request a portable copy of certain personal data in a commonly used format.

Right to Withdraw Consent

If you consented to certain processing, you may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal will not affect processing that occurred prior to withdrawal.

CCPA-Specific Rights (for California residents)

• Right to Know: Request disclosure of categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, disclosed, or sold in the prior 12 months.
• Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information we collected.
• Right to Opt-Out of Sale: LitCheck does not sell personal information. If this changes we will provide an opt-out mechanism.
• Right to Non-Discrimination for exercising CCPA rights.

How to exercise your rights: Send a request to support@litcheck.online with "Privacy Request" in the subject and specify the right you wish to exercise, and provide sufficient information to verify your identity. We may require verification to protect your privacy. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

8. AI / Automated Processing Disclosure

LitCheck uses automated processing to support core features:

Leaderboards and Badges

Leaderboard ranking, badge assignment, and related gamification features are computed automatically based on user activity, votes, and engagement metrics.

Content Ranking and Feed Ordering

We use algorithmic processing to surface and order content in feeds and discovery pages. These systems prioritize content based on engagement, recency, and optional personalization signals.

Automated Moderation

We may use automated tools to detect spam, abusive content, or other violations of our Terms of Service. Automated decisions that materially affect your account (e.g., account suspension) will be subject to human review upon request.

If you want human review of an automated decision affecting you, please contact support@litcheck.online and indicate the decision you want reviewed. We will provide information about the logic involved and the steps to obtain review where required by law.

9. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Currently, LitCheck is free to use and does not offer in-app purchases, paid subscriptions, or advertising. If we introduce paid features or purchases in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy with details about payment processing, billing information handling, and any third-party payment processors used.

10. Account Deletion

To delete your account from within the app:

1. Open LitCheck and navigate to your Profile tab.
2. Tap the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top-right corner.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings screen.
4. Tap "Hesabı Sil" (Delete Account).
5. Confirm your choice in the dialog that appears.

Upon account deletion, the following data is permanently removed from our active systems:

• Your email address, username, profile picture, and bio
• All outfit photos and product links you uploaded
• Your likes, swipe history, and follow relationships
• Your notification history and push notification token
• Your leaderboard data, badges, and rank history

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Anonymized and aggregated data that can no longer identify you may be retained for legal compliance and analytics purposes as described in Section 4.

If you are unable to access the app, you may also request account deletion by emailing support@litcheck.online with "Account Deletion Request" in the subject line. We will process your request within 72 hours.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or new features. If we make material changes we will provide notice (e.g., in-app notice or email) and update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
